Doggy Day Care: Positive, Safe, Fun!
South Des Moines Veterinary Center offers doggy day care service for your four-legged companions. Our goal is to provide a positive, safe, fun, and stimulating environment for your dog. We are not a typical doggy day care setting where a large number of animals are given free roam all day. Our day care is catered to your individual dog’s needs. We work together to reinforce the training and good behaviors you are working on at home. Day care is provided Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
For the health and safety of all of the pets in our care, we require all vaccinations be current.
Each doggy day care session includes:
- Individualized scheduled playtimes throughout the day
- Regular potty breaks outside
- Tasty treats
- Group socialization playtime with other dogs after behavioral evaluation from our veterinary team
- Daily report card
- Grooming services can be added for an additional fee
When multiple dogs are in attendance, group socialization and playtime with other dogs is closely supervised. All dogs are introduced to each other in a well-controlled environment. Doggy day care is great for a new puppy to help with housetraining and socialization with people and other animals. Your pet learns that a trip to the vet does not have to be stressful and can be a safe, fun environment. It instills that the veterinary center is a safe, fun environment. It’s also a great program for new patients — to help them adjust, feel comfortable, and to minimize the stress of a new environment. One of the bonuses of doggy day care is a tired pet at the end of the day, and tired dogs are usually better behaved dogs at home! Even if your pet is a regular here and just needs a change of scenery, doggy day care is a great option.
